Sankar Ram, Son of Great Poet Late Thiru. Dr.Ulundurpettai Shanmugam and Maternal Uncle Late Thiru. Seergali Govindarajan, a legendary Singer and synonym of Devotional songs in Tamil Music Industry, is his uncle. Sankar carries the Legacy of Music Industry and the whistleblower seeking to help the stressed Musicians & artists who are deprived of their bread & butter due to the Corona pandemic.
He is the Chairperson of the Stage Light Music artists & Technicians Association of Tamil Nadu along with his brother Baranidharan, organised a YouTube event Marathon Music Relay on June 27th which went on for eight long hours & more than 15,000 music enthusiasts witnessed the live fete under the Banner of his YouTube channel Music Tube. Love for Music is in his blood. He breathes Music every moment. Music lovers across the Globe liberally contributed and the collection was distributed among the artists of different districts of Tamil Nadu.
Charity is in his blood. for the people of Gujrat when the devastating earthquake struck Bhuj in 2004, Sankar organised a musical event on the sands of Marina Beach in Chennai & donated Rs. 25.0 Lakhs. Then Chief Minister Thiru M.Karunanidhi & host of leading playback singers participated in the Event and Sung the National Anthem with more than 1,08,000 people at 12 PM.
Sankar’s brainchild Sadhaga Paravaigal (Practicing Birds) has many first to its credit. To name a few, they celebrated the 50 Years of Indian Independence with most of the Top 54 Playback Singers on the stage of all times in 1997.
When asked about his future plans, Sankar whistles with a smile. Why not? He holds a unique record of 18 Hours Non-Stop Whistling world record.
I am planning a Virtual Music festival to coincide with the Independence day celebrations on 15th of August 2020. It will be the first of its kind in India. People may not be able to come out of their houses due to Social Distancing. So we will reach their house & soul to celebrate. We will request the Music lovers of India to donate and participate. This will help us to raise a decent amount of funds to help our fellow artists. I am in touch with popular Musicians to join this cause and help them: he replied with his customary smile on the face.
